Ingredients

Ingredient Amount Notes
Sweet Onions 3 or 4  
Flour 1 cup  
Baking Powder 1 1/2 tsp  
Salt 1/2 tsp  
Eggs 1  
Water 2/3 cup  
Lemon Juice 1/2 Tbsp  
Butter 1 Tbsp Melted

Method

  1. Peel onions
  2. Cut into 1/4 inch slices
  3. Separate into rings
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt
  5. Beat egg and add water and lemon juice
  6. Beat egg mixture until frothy
  7. Stir in dry ingredients to make a batter
  8. Melt butter and add to batter
  9. Heat frying fat to 375F
  10. Add all onion rings to batter at same time
  11. Stir until coated
  12. Sift out one by one
  13. Fry 2 minutes on each side
  14. Drain on paper towels
  15. Keep cooked onions warm in slow oven until all rings are fried
