Green Pepper | 1 large | Chopped |
Onion | 1 Medium | Minced |
Bacon | 10 slices | Crisp - Crumbled |
Mayonnaise | 3 Tbsp | |
Rye Bread | Recipe calls for “party rye bread” - see Modern note below |
Method
- Preheat oven to 475F
- Cook to crisp, cool, and crumble bacon if not using pre-made
- Combine all ingredients except bread and mix
- Spread on bread
- Bake until bubbles form

Modern Notes
- “Party Rye Bread” appears to be a discontinued Pepperidge Farms product. Articles about it being discontinued suggest cutting standard-sized Rye bread into quarters, or products by different brands referred to as cocktail rye bread. Party Rye Bread appears to have been 2 inches by 2 inches and fairly thin.
